2012. Organza, porcelain slip. Variable dimensions, height 280 cm.
Employing methods like dipping textiles and paper in liquid clay, I make sculptures and installations which are massively present yet often leaf-thin, barely hanging on to existence.
Working with clay invites me to play with change and chance. I contemplate the space and my chosen material, and set out with an idea of a desired expression. Then gravity and viscosity enables forms and details made by forces beyond my control. Drenching flexible substances in earthy material transforms them into statements of unrefined energy. I entrust the objects to alteration through time, threatened by as well as embracing the potential of destruction.
