Utilitas is a leading energy company and the largest district heating supplier in Estonia. Velvet was approached with an aim to create an unique heating lab at Mektory Innovation Center with an objective to raise people’s awareness about the production, distribution, and consumption of thermal energy, as well as to introduce future challenges.
A model of a contemporary and efficient cogeneration plant, a modern boiler plant, and a piece from the largest main pipeline in Estonia are on exhibit at the lab. As thermal energy is unseeable to the eye, the lab also features a thermal camera, making invisible visible. In addition, the lab offers a unique overview of the Tallinn district heating network in real time.
