The Museum of Occupations tasked us to create an exhibition about relatively little-known historical incident - Narva illegal referendum on autonomy in 1993.
First, we traced the timeline regarding the chain of events in 1993, in order to provide visitors with detailed information about what exactly transpired in Narva.
Next, we created an environment for visitors that would take them back to those times. We outfitted a showroom with period-specific interior design, centered around a TV set playing documentary footage from the referendum.
Lastly, we decided to dedicate the third room to similar conflicts around the world by juxtaposing light and darkness with an intricate spatial layout of fluorescent tubes and typography in a dark showroom.
